November 2023

The past few weeks have really shown us Valencia at its best, with sunshine, warmth, cool

breezes and lots to do. The IWCV is trying to keep up with that, with new events to try and new friends to make. Read on to find out what’s happening this month!

Much more than a quorum of members voted in the IWCV Board of Directors elections last

month (thank you to all who voted!), and we are pleased to welcome our newly elected board.

President: Jane Buck

VP – Membership: Phyllis So

VP – Activities: Susan Burke Marc

VP – Charities: Pauline Fitzgerald

Recording Secretary: Norma Acland

Treasurer: Dora Sanchez

Member-at-Large: Susan Kaplan

These new board members (some of whom are current board members in new positions!),

whose terms begin on 1 January 2024, will join our appointed IWCV Webmaster Cindy

Roberts to complete our Board of Directors. Congratulations to all!

Many of you enjoy joining us at our monthly luncheons, which are for members only and, in

alternate months, for members and their partners/spouses. We are currently looking for some willing women to join the luncheon committee and help us find interesting restaurants with good food that we will all enjoy. If you are interested in joining the committee, or if you just want a better idea of what’s involved, please email Jane at pres.iwcvalencia@gmail.com

Read on to find out about the activities we have already planned for you this month, and don’t forget to check the IWCV website ( www.iwc-valencia.com ) periodically as events are added all the time!

Activities

Phyllis So, VP Activities

Recap of October’s Events

What a great October! From Pilates to a tour of the Botanic Garden.

First, we had Leyna Noel provide a Pilates Primer at her studio, Human Behavior. It was a full

house and she gave the history of Pilates - amazing story. If you haven’t heard it yet, stay

tuned – she will give another class in early January. Leyna is an excellent instructor and

doesn’t miss a thing (meaning if I didn’t do the exercise right, she came over and gently

moved me to proper position)

Dennis Roth, husband of IWCV member Debbie Roth, gave a reading from his book, Greed

and Deceit, the second of a triology. (I just got the Kindle version and am thoroughly enjoying the book.) Dennis also gave us some readings of his poetry. A very entertaining morning.

Rebecca Cabo, SpacesCabo gave really important information about real estate in Valencia -

renting, buying. So much I didn’t know and great to see we did some good things when

renting! Rebecca will be doing on-going informational talks.

Susan March, our VP Activities-elect, gave us a talk regarding the Expat Dilemma. Her talks

are really good for dispelling myths about food and nutrition. Susan will also be giving on-going discussions regarding our health and lifestyles.

Brenda Stein arranged a tour at the amazing Botannic Garden led by David of Ars Magna. It

was my first time there, but not the last. In my opinion, David’s knowledge of the Garden

surpasses any other guide here in Valencia. If you get a chance, go on his next IWCV tour of

the Cabanyal – It’s sure to be excellent.
