But we’ve still got June to enjoy the events the IWCV has planned for you before the real summer heat sets in. You can start by checking out some really good places to eat – both indoors and outside – in Valencia. Take a look at IWCV member and chef Amanda Cushman’s recommendation on the IWCV website at Restaurant reviews | IWC - Valencia!

MEMBERSHIP
Janine Forbes, VP Membership
I am delighted to report that our new member numbers have grown yet again this month with 20 new members from 11 countries in May. We truly are an “International” Women’s Club. Many women found out about us through other members, but some saw us mentioned in positive FB posts on” How to settle into Valencia”, which is always nice to hear.
We held our New Member Meet and Greet on 24th of May and were amazed by the diverse and incredible backgrounds of our members, many having lived all over the world before finding their place in our little part of Spain. Inspiring stories of life changing decisions, packing up the old familiar life, crossing the world and just doing it! Some of the careers of the women at the meet were truly inspirational with members having backgrounds in Cordon Bleu cookery, Professional chefs, Interior Designers, Fine Artists and many other interesting careers. We are a very talented bunch! Many thanks to our President for hosting the event and for member Sara Ardetti for the amazing chocolate cookies!
Remember all the information about the IWCV is on the IWCV website. If you would like to join one of the many WhatsApp groups, just contact the relevant lead member or any board member. If you know any women in your personal network who you think would enjoy our club, please pass on our website www.iwc-valencia.com and let them know about us!
Input from Ambassadors
We have a growing number of new members who are keen to meet up with a local Ambassador and get to know Valencia better. If you are someone with experience of the city, who likes to meet and show people around or even just to be a friendly face over a coffee, please get in touch with Joanne Simpson at joanneis1@hotmail.com .

Charities & Fundraising
Pauline Fitzgerald, Charities Chair
It's hard to believe we are halfway through 2024 and we still need your support for our charities. For those of you who wish to make a private donation, the bank details of our charities are as follows; please ensure that you note IWCV in the reference box.

Proyecto Vivir supports women and their families as they improve their lives. They are taught Spanish, work skills, domestic arts, family dynamics, self-care and much more. The women are supported with food vouchers, occasional rent assistance, childcare, baby supplies and more.
An important source of funds (from 3 to 4 thousand euros per month) needed for this support comes from the TIENDA SOLIDARIA, (Carrer de Gonzalez Marti, 3), a store with used clothing and household items. The store is in need of 3 or 4 more volunteers to help keep it open. Without more help, it will struggle to stay open all day as it does now. If you are interested in helping, please watch for further information regarding shifts available. Please note if you choose a shift it is important to commit to it. Don't worry if your Spanish isn't the best. You just need to be there, be able to count money, and smile. They are closed in August and on the weekends. You can also support the store and Proyecto Vivir by donating and/or purchasing used items.
Proyecto Vivir will hold a fund-raiser on Thursday 11th July, a Wine and Cheese Tasting Cocktail Party. The entrance fee is 60 euros per person. Information regarding the event and the process of how to sign up will be posted closer to the date. All the money raised will go to the Foundation. If you are free on 11th July and fancy some wine and cheese on a balmy summer's evening, please watch for further details. Thank you, Ladies, for your continued support!
